Course Outline
Do you already have a fair amount of experience with inter-radicular TADs, but are you looking for a more efficient protocol with a lower failure rate? Have you heard of many anchoring options but do not know which one to apply? Are you confused about the use of the template and CBCT? Well this is the course for you. We will guide you step by step through the discovery of palatal skeletal anchorage, analyzing its advantages, strengths and limitations. We will evaluate the different guidelines and references for their clinical chairside insertion. We will analyze possible advantages and disadvantages of the direct and indirect insertion protocol using a template, in the light of the best available scientific evidence. We will understand together when and why to request a CBCT to our patient to insert TADs, what real benefit we could get from it and in which specific patient. We will evaluate the biomechanics of distalisation, mesialisation and intrusion movements. We will delve into maxillary expansion on skeletal anchorage, guiding you in the choice of device type according to the patient. Finally we will present to you the new tools and new clinical possibilities with Orthoeasy line 2025. All the clinical steps and components required for the development of palatal skeletal anchorage orthodontic devices will be analyzed in detail. Finally, exemplary clinical cases of the most varied orthodontic possibilities related to this innovative method will be analyzed.

Dr. Giorgio Iodice obtained his dental diploma, specialization in orthodontics and doctorate at the University “Federico II” in Naples. He received a certificate of excellence in orthodontics in Italy from the Italian Board of Orthodnotics (IBO) and the European Board of Orthodontics. Since 2013, he has been a member of the examination committee of the Italian Board of Orthodontics.
He works as a Clinical Professor at the University of Naples, and is an active member of many orthodontic organizations, including: Sido, EOS, SIBOS, AIDOr and SIDA. His main clinical interests and research focus on the treatment of adult patients, the use of orthodontic mini-implants (TADS), occlusal relationships and temporomandibular disorders. He cooperates with domestic and foreign magazines, is the author of numerous publications and lectures at many congresses and symposia.
Prof. Mauro Farella is professor and head of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Otago, New Zealand.
In addition to his position, he also directs the Craniofacial Research Program and supervises the Orthodontic Specialization Program,
including doctorates in dentistry. As a specialist in Orthodontics, he is registered in both New Zealand and Italy, running exclusively private practices dedicated to clinical orthodontics. His research areas include clinical orthodontics, biomechanics, craniofacial muscles and temporomandibular joint research.
It is worth noting that his international research work resulted in obtaining grants exceeding one million euros.
His clinical skills and expert knowledge are appreciated around the world. He has lectured in 22 countries and won significant research awards such as the IADR Award. Alan Docking and the Sir John Walsh Award. He serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journals “Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research” and “Korean Journal of Orthodontics”, and also serves on the Editorial Board of the “Journal of Oral Rehabilitation”. He was appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Nanjing (China) and Adjunct Professor at the University of Cagliari (Italy).
